From hurricanes to winter storms, we must always be prepared for any extreme weather event—especially ensuring that we don’t lose the electrical power our residents and staff depend on every day. 

A Proactive Approach to Maintaining Power

During the mid-February storm that wreaked havoc on so many communities in Texas, our preparations were put to the test—and we passed with flying colors. 

The Tradition-Buffalo Speedway and The Tradition-Woodway both feature advanced natural gas generators that guarantee electrical reliability during any weather event. Why natural gas? We believe it’s too risky to depend on a provider’s ability to supply diesel during challenging weather. 

Because of this investment in natural gas generators, The Tradition Communities maintained power throughout the recent weather event that severely impacted the Texas power grid, leaving many homes and businesses without power for long periods of time. Our residents and staff were safe, comfortable, and secure, which are—and always will be—our top priorities. 

A Strong Back-Up Plan

We have a powerful partnership with Texas Microgrid LLC and Enchanted Rock Ltd., which provides electrical backup service throughout The Tradition-Buffalo Speedway and The Tradition-Woodway. During the virtually unprecedented February weather event, Enchanted Rock’s On Demand Electrical Reliability service ensured that we could provide reliable power to our residents. As an added benefit, it allowed us to be good neighbors in our communities by staying “off the grid” and making more power available to our fellow Houstonians. 

With this backup system, we can continuously run all electrical throughout our communities, no matter the challenges we face. From essentials like heating and air conditioning to food preparation, lighting, elevators, and more, we can confidently say that we will always remain up and running.

A Staff That Does Whatever It Takes

At The Tradition, we’ve built a team that has the heart and the know-how to see our communities—and the residents who depend on us—through any challenge. These committed professionals worked tirelessly through the February storm, watching for pipe leaks; preparing hot, nourishing meals; and making certain that our residents had everything they needed. Several team members even spent multiple nights at our communities, fulfilling their duties in the face of bad road conditions.
